Tri City Raceway is  the only 1/2 mile paved tri oval in existence.  Originally built in 1968 ,  the track had  several successful seasons,  Nascar Grand National West, Nascar Northwest Tour visited the speedway several times up through the 2003 Season.  Promoting from 1982 to 1998,  the Walden family built the speedway to one of the Northwest's most successful venues.  Under new ownership in 1999,  the track eventually was shuttered in 2004.  The speedway was closed and scheduled for demolition.

17 years later the property was purchased by the City of West Richland for a police station.  A tire/sound test was conducted on the speedway in 2020,  a lease was executed in 2021.  and the Walden Family got to promote the speedway again, Speedway Promotions LLC.   Success is attributed to  the Red Mountain Event Center project team of Jesse Brown,  Mark Jacobs,  Eric Van Winkle,  and many more businesses and individuals who got the 90 acre facility back to usable,  both with labor and funding.  The City of West Richland and Mayor Brent Gerry were absolutely critical to the decision to move ahead with the multi use facility/ race track reopening,  leading the team down the necessary avenues to revive this historic venue!

You absolutely need to fix that parking lot with the amount of goat heads that was distributed through many states after parking and staying there for the fall classic. It needs to be bladed off and regraveled to remove those goat heads or they'll last for 10 years and still be active seed. We went to Walmart and bought two 40 ft tarps to lay down so that we could access our campers and motorhomes and they still came through. Please address this as we have been coming to Tri-City raceways ever since the very first race in the 60s and have competed there in both race cars and motorcycles and love the place. C. Akerblade
